Getting started

  1. Open Live to see the current connection experience while WhiteSail is active in the foreground.
  2. Open Places and choose the spot where you are actually using the network.
  3. Run the check for about five seconds without changing location or connection.
  4. Test another place on the same Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
  5. Compare saved places, then retest when conditions or the network change.

Frequently asked questions

Is WhiteSail an internet speed test?

Not in the usual Mbps sense. WhiteSail focuses on responsiveness, variation, and interruptions rather than download or upload throughput.

Can WhiteSail improve my Wi-Fi or cellular signal?

No. It cannot strengthen coverage or change network settings. It helps you compare the places you have tested yourself.

Why do saved places change when I switch networks?

Results are filtered to the current Wi-Fi or cellular connection so measurements from unlike connections are not mixed casually.

Why might WhiteSail request location access?

iOS requires location permission before it can return the current Wi-Fi name. WhiteSail uses the name to identify the connection and does not request or store geographic coordinates.

Does WhiteSail scan nearby Wi-Fi signals?

No. It does not scan nearby signals or recommend an untested place. You choose a place, run the check there, and compare saved results.
